Web Design Process

I want to make the web design process an enjoyable experience and it is important that we work together with regular reviews and active feedback.

Keeping the lines of communication open between us will ensure 100% success.

1. Requirements

What do you want your website to do for you, what are your needs and goals, who is your target audience and what image do you wish to portray?  I will ask you to fill in my new business starter pack which will ask you to identify some websites that you like so I can get an idea of the type of web design you are looking for.

2. Quote

Following the return of my new business starter pack, a detailed quote with any additional costing is produced for you to review, amend and agree.

3.  Next steps

Once you're ready to go ahead I will ask you to pay a deposit and then I will produce a full project specification, including terms & conditions within 7-14 days.  Once you have reviewed and approved the specification, I will ask you to sign it and send a copy to me.

4. Your content

Now it is time to get started and to get a good idea for the design of your new website, I need the content. You will now need to share your text and images and a Dropbox folder will be set up to enable easy file sharing.

5. The design

This is the fun part and it starts by researching current trends, formatting, colours and fonts. Then I will create a wireframe to make sure everything that you want and need is included and finally a mockup page is created to show you the design.

6. Development

Once the design is signed off I will use the wireframes and mockup to create a live version. All my designs include search engine optimisation (SEO) and are mobile friendly as standard. Any special functionality you require will be added to the site.

7. Browser testing

Your website will be tested on a range of browsers, old and new including Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Chrome, Safari and includes testing on mobile and tablet devices.

8. User testing

Your new website will be accessed through a temporary url so that you can you can be involved in user testing. By navigating the site you will ensure that you are comfortable with the website that your visitors will see and use.

9. Security and performance

We are nearly ready for launch now and the final step is to move your site to the live server where I will perform security and performance testing.

10. Go Live!

Following receipt of the final payment, your website will be published to the internet and will be released for indexing by Google and other search engines.

11. Guides

Your new site will include a content management system which is extremely intuitive and easy to use, however, bespoke user guides with screenshots will be provided along with a full reference guide.

12. Hosting and support

Hosting - All new websites come with 12 months web hosting and a free .co.uk domain name. Please note that after the 12 month period the domain name will need to be renewed and this and web hosting will need to be charged for. You are welcome to take out an additional contract with me, or you are free to move to another host.

Support - Your new website comes with email support for 12 months and it is necessary to carry out updates from time to time to ensure optimum security.  After the first 12 months you can take out an optional maintenance contract, or manage the site yourself as you wish.
